In Moldova, the Professional Training Program for Specialists in Peer-to-Peer Counseling Received Accreditation

In Moldovan prisons, the “peer-to-peer consultant” training program has been accredited for the next six months. This decision was made by the board of the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Education of the Republic of Moldova (ANACEC).

The accreditation process was initiated in 2022 through the collaboration of the NGO “Positive Initiative”, the National Administration of Penitentiary Institutions, and representatives from the penitentiary institutions.

Previously, the “Positive Initiative” received recommendations from the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Education and Scientific Research of the Republic of Moldova (ANACEC) for accrediting the program. Following these recommendations, a Curriculum was developed for the “peer-to-peer consultant” training program aimed at facilitators who work with people living with HIV, as well as key vulnerable groups to HIV.

Since this course is new and has not existed in the country before, it was granted temporary authorization. Once 150 clients complete the 6-month program, all the necessary documentation will be gathered to support the application for full accreditation.
