For the first time, Kyrgyzstan’s funding request to the Global Fund includes expanded interventions from the community of prisoners and people released from prisons
The regional consultants of the Eurasian Movement for the Right to Health in Prisons in Kyrgyzstan managed to ensure the participation of the community members through the entire drafting process of the national application, beginning with the collection of needs and setting the priorities, ending with the submission of the interventions to the technical expert group for their further consideration.
As a result, most of the interventions proposed by the community have been included in the final version of the funding request to the Global Fund.

In Moldova, prisoners will be able to study as peer-to-peer consultants on the accredited program
The NGO «Initiativa Pozitiva» (Chisinau, Moldova) received recommendations from the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova (ANACEC) for the accreditation of the educational program. The ANACEC`s report is based on the visits by representatives of the Agency to penitentiary institutions and contains clear recommendations.
The accreditation process was initiated by the NGO «Initiativa Pozitiva» in cooperation with the National Administration of Penitentiaries (NAP) and representatives of the penitentiary institutions in 2022.

Health and HIV in Prisons: EMRHP participated in the 66th session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs
Prison populations globally present complex healthcare needs including an increased likelihood of infection with Hepatitis, HIV/AIDS and other diseases. People in prison are six times more likely to be living with HIV than the general population while the disproportionate burden of HIV and hepatitis C in prisons remains linked to insufficient access to comprehensive harm reduction services in prisons, among other factors.
