EMRHP is looking for a consultant in the Republic of Moldova to support the development of peer-to-peer counseling in penitentiary institutions.

The Eurasian Movement for the Right to Health in Prisons is looking for a consultant based in the Republic of Moldova to support the development of peer-to-peer counseling in selected penitentiary institutions, as part of the project “Expanding Access to HIV Services in Prisons of EECA Region”, supported by the CO “100% Life”.

The initiative is part of the regional project “The Sustainability of Services for Key Populations in the EECA Region” (SoS_project 2.0), led by a consortium of organizations under the coordination of the Alliance for Public Health, in partnership with 100% Life.

Timeline: May – December 2024

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the piloting of peer-to-peer counseling services by people currently serving sentences in selected Moldovan prisons;
  • Facilitate the transparent and inclusive selection of peer consultants among incarcerated individuals;
  • Organize and deliver training sessions for peer consultants to provide basic counseling and support to their peers;
  • Provide regular supervision and mentorship to peer consultants throughout the pilot period;
  • Monitor the implementation and quality of peer counseling services in the pilot sites;
  • Present outcomes and lessons learned to the Technical Working Group of the Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM).

 

Who we are looking for:

  • Proven experience in the fields of resocialization, reintegration, or rights-based work with people in detention;
  • Experience collaborating with Moldovan prison authorities and institutions;
  • Previous engagement with non-governmental and/or community-based organizations;
  • Familiarity with delivering or organizing psychosocial services in closed settings;
  • Skills in facilitation, adult learning, and mentorship;
  • Fluency in Russian and Romanian (both oral and written).
