Project Goal: Сontribute to removing barriers in access to healthcare services for prisoners and ex-prisoners and strengthening the sustainability of HIV services in penitentiary institutions in EECA region.
Key Results 2023:
- Georgia: standards for release preparation, including and overdose prevention training module for penitentiary system staff, were developed;
- Kazakhstan: interventions on preparing women who use drugs for release from prisons have been included into the GFATM country request;
- Kyrgyzstan: introduction of social order for HIV-related services for people who are released from prisons has been supported, draft standards of services and their cost calculations have been developed in coordination with the probation department and submitted to the Ministry of Justice for adoption;
- Moldova: training program for peer-to-peer consultants in prisons received accreditation from the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Education and Research;
- Ukraine: Standard operational process “Diagnostics, treatment and support of PLWH (and people with suspected HIV)”, regulating provision of HIV testing, treatment and support services for prisoners, have been developed and adopted by the Health Center of the State Criminal-Executive Service of Ukraine
