On December 12, the International Day for Universal Health Coverage, the Eurasian Movement for the Right to Health in Prisons focuses on ensuring equal access to health care for all, including people in prison.
This day is an important reminder that health is a universal human right, regardless of social status or location. Limiting freedom should not mean limiting the right to health.
As part of an awareness campaign launched by the Eurasian Movement for the Right to Health in Prisons on International Human Rights Day, the organization calls on governments in the region, international organizations and donors to join efforts to improve access to health care for people in prison.
Anna Koshikova, Executive Director of the Eurasian Movement for the Right to Health in Prisons, emphasizes: “Universal health coverage is not possible without considering the needs of people in prison. Our goal is to create a system where everyone’s health is prioritized, even in conditions of restricted freedom. Join our campaign and help make the right to health accessible to all!”.
